Meet Jerry Jones, M.D.

My name is Jerry Jones, and I am a board-certified anesthesiologist in private practice for over twelve years. I am grateful for a fantastic education during my residency at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, yet during this time I received relatively little peripheral nerve block training (none of which was ultrasound-based). I became interested in continuous peripheral nerve blocks (CPNB) several years ago as I saw increased attention given to this emerging field of anesthesia practice. In 2007, I ventured into this exciting new field. After seeing dramatic outcome differences and hearing overwhelming responses from my patients, surgeons and administrators, I became passionate about expanding the role of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia in my practice and developing a successful CPNB Program in my hospital.

Since that time, I have developed ‘from the ground up’ two successful CPNB Programs (and contributed to countless others), lectured extensively around the country and trained numerous individuals in ‘real world’ private practice. I am now replicating my success through consulting and partnering with leading companies in the industry to deliver more cost-effective care and to improve patient outcomes.

I recognize the challenges and frustrations that private practitioners face as they look at initiating or expanding a CPNB Program, and I know the pitfalls that await them that can spell doom for all of their efforts -especially early in the process. There are certainly techniques or pathways that will lead a block program to yield little benefit or even increase costs, but I simply do not believe that “it just can’t be done here” wherever “here” happens to be. There is a reasonable, safe and productive path to take for any facility and for any anesthesia group that will yield benefits for everyone involved.

I have sacrificed a great deal of time and effort into this endeavor, however, every time I see another great outcome or talk to another appreciative patient, I continue to strive to do more and to spread to others these fantastic techniques. It is my vision to expand the utilization of this technology and these techniques to other practitioners and their communities across the country.

I am genuinely convicted that if you want to succeed, you can succeed if  (1) you know how to do the blocks and (2) you know how to implement a sustainable program. Every facility is unique, and I know of several programs that started with limited foresight that ultimately fizzled out or failed outright. If you want to get your program off the ground, but you are unsure how to make it happen safely and efficiently, I hope you will consider contacting me to learn more about how CPNB Consulting can help you to make your vision a reality.
